To be eligible for a grant, an organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been in operation for at least three years. Nonprofits that provide services in Placer County or Nevada County are given priority in grant consideration, but nonprofits that work outside those two counties are eligible if they provide services within the Greater Sacramento Region and can show that those services have a significant impact on the surrounding community.
The following organizations are ineligible for grant funding through the Program:
- Service clubs and organizations
- Endowments and community funds
- Umbrella or pass-through agencies
- Organizations that discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Religious organizations UNLESS they are seeking support for a program or project that addresses the needs of the wider community without regard to religious beliefs in which case they are eligible to receive a grant
- Organizations that have received, or intend to seek, funding from the Thunder Valley Casino Resort within the same calendar year
Organizations can only receive grant funding once per calendar year. Unsuccessful Spring applicants are welcome to resubmit in the Fall.
